The Glassworks - Our History
The original home of Sunbeam Glass Studio, a collection of local artists and creatives, Ponsonby's Glassworks is a celebration of a rich artistic history. Renowned glass artist Garry Nash worked from the studio for three decades, producing his pieces in the four large kilns originally on the property. Tributes to his work and those of the many creatives who have worked in the space can be seen through a series of exhibits that are often held in the space. The archive of images below show the space in its original state prior to renovations in 2018. The newly developed courtyard, designed by Jared Lockhart, brings shape and versatility to the precinct. The extensive use of brick and hand-cast concrete seating is a nod to site and its rich creative history.
